Eanach Dun


It's been too long since I've made a blog entry.


This project has been bogged down by my Florida trip and then by the demands of catching up at work following the trip.


Today's entry is mostly a fantasy.


Just as I doubt that Roger Amidon, Amidown, Annadown, or Hannahdown was French, I also doubt the possibility he was Irish. Nevertheless, the name Annadown is connected to a Roman Catholic Bishopric that existed near Galway, Ireland until around the 16th century. The town of Annaghdown, or Eanach Dun, still exists. Today's picture is Annaghdown Castle, the ruins once occupied by the Bishop.
